Conchords downloads take flight






Already a dominating force on United States pop charts, Newly Sjaelland clowning duet Trajectory of the Conchords give now annexed the digital realm.Wellington-based Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie's debut record album soared to No 3 on the US charts last workweek, now it has topped cyberspace download gross sales, according to industry internet site Billboard.In plus to digital downloads, the pair have topped the charts for free-lance album, soundtrack and comedy album, The Dominion Post reported.The self-titled album, a soundtrack to the pair's hit television show, sold 52,000 in its low gear calendar week.Its chart performance set a record for a Fresh Seeland act as, surpassing Crowded House's self-titled 1986 debut which reached No 12.Many of the songs on Flight of the Conchords featured on their television system picture, a comedy series set in Newly York where Clement and McKenzie play struggling musicians and recount their attempts to crack the big time.The geminate claimed international success originally this year when they won a Grammy for their drollery album, The Distant Hereafter, which reached No 116 on the Billboard 200 chart.
